Bob Burress Obituary

Bob Burress (Feb 21, 1936 – Sep 20, 2025
Bob Burress was born February 21, 1936 in Gordon, Nebraska. He passed away on
September 20, 2025 at home in Moses Lake, WA after a long hard-fought battle with
cancer. He is preceded in death by his wife Georgine of 66 years and daughter Glenda.
He is survived by his Sister Dawn Peterson, Son Randal, and Daughters Catrina and
Monica, seven Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
Bob was born and raised on a farm in Northwestern Nebraska where he met his wife
Georgine. They married in 1956 and moved away from the farm to Southern California
where Bob worked as an Operating Engineer for 20+ years. Bob relocated his family to
Moses Lake in 1979 to join his parents and sister, farming alongside them for several
years. After Mt. St. Helens, Bob sold the farm and built and opened “Bob’s Café at the
Inn” in 1983. Bob never did retire but continued to run his restaurant for over 40 years.
It was very successful in the community, a meeting place open 24 hours a day. Bob felt
like he had to invest in the community that contributed to success. He sought out ways
he could help community events and affairs, giving unselfishly. One of Bob’s greatest
pleasures was attending the activities at the Grant County Fair & Rodeo. He loved the
thrill of an auction – be it livestock to support local kids; or the hunt for antique farm
equipment to build his “Bob’s Classic Tractors” collection. He was loved by many and
will be dearly missed.
Thanks to all the faithful employees of the Café that became like family over the past
40+ years. Also to the customers that have contributed to its success. With this help of
dedicated employees and customers, Bob’s Café at the Inn continues to thrive. It is his
family’s goal to continue employment of staff and support the community for their
parents that loved Moses Lake. They were local and proud of it.
Bob’s wishes were to forego any services or memorial.
