Dan Champion, 81, of Moses Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2025. Dan was born on October 1, 1943, to Kathleen Briscoe in Detroit, Michigan. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962.
Dan married his sweetheart, Charlotte, gaining four sons, and together they had one daughter. Dan and Charlotte lived in many areas of Washington before finally making their home in Moses Lake. Dan served as a police officer in both Quincy and Royal City, and later as a firefighter in Royal City. Over the years, he also worked as a carpenter, truck driver, farmer, and musician. A talented musician, Dan played at many venues throughout the Columbia Basin. When he met his best friend and fellow musician, Jack Eldridge, the two began playing together on Saturday mornings at the Moses Lake Farmers Market. Their music filled the market with joy and laughter. Even as Dan’s health began to decline, he and Jack continued to play whenever they could. Dan always loved visits from family and cherished the time spent with those he loved most. He is survived by his sons Jay and Jessie (Gen) Sheriff, and his daughter Leasa (Rich) Uhlman, all of Moses Lake. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. We will miss you, Dad and Grandpa. Keep playing your music in Heaven until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held at Pioneer Memorial Chapel,
14403 Rd 2 SE, Moses Lake, Washington,
on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
