Dee V. Whitaker 2 days shy of his 78th birthday, of Moses Lake Washington passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his
loved ones on December 7th, 2024.
He was one of four children born to Lynn and Fern Whitaker of Bringham City, Utah on December 9th,
1946.
Lynn and Fern Whitaker moved to Grant County in 1952. The family purchased a farm in block 42 in
Moses Lake. They also operated a small feedlot. The primary crops were wheat, corn, potatoes, and
seed crops.
Dee in his youth played football and wrestled in JR High and High School. He was an active member of 4-
H and F.F.A.. He showed beef cattle at many fairs and won numerous Grand Champion trophies and
ribbons.
While still in High School he got his R.C.A. permit and rode bulls at Rodeos.
After graduating in 1967 from Chief Moses High School he was drafted. He served in the U.S. Army.
While in active duty he was a drill Sargent while stationed in Wildflicken, Germany. After serving in the
military he returned to Moses Lake, and the family ran farm.
In the fall of 1969 he met his future wife Miss Kay Walker at the Ellensburg rodeo. Dee and Kay got
married in the winter of 1970.
Dee and his wife purchased a piece of ground adjacent to the Whitaker and son’s farm in Moses Lake.
They built a home on the ground. They raised many horses together on their establishment. He loved to
team rope and compete. He also had many friends and family members over to practice in the arena.
He is survived by his wife Kay Whitaker of almost 55 blessed years, daughter, 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson,
and one great grandson.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Roger Whitaker, Sister Linda King-Eslick, Nephew Brett
King, Grandsons David Blackman, and Mario Rodriguez JR.
Dee V. Whitaker’s gravesite service will be held at Pioneer Memorial Gardens 14403 Rd 2 N.E. in Moses
Lake, WA January 4, 2025 at 11 am.
CELEBRATION OF DEE V. WHITAKER’S LIFE will be held at the Moses Lake Grange Hall 14724 Rd 3 S.E.
Moses Lake, WA January 4 at 1 pm.
