Jose Maldrigales Obituary

Obituary for Jose Ricardo Madrigales
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we announce the passing of Jose Ricardo
Acosta Madrigales, who was called home on Monday, July 14 at the age of 62 at
Sacred Heart in Spokane, WA.
Born in Sinaloa, Mexico, Ricardo Madrigales came from humble beginnings and never
lost touch with the land, the values, or the strength that shaped him. He left his land at
the age of 14 in pursuit of better opportunities and built a life rooted in hard work, faith,
and deep love for his growing family.
Though life taught him to be cautious—some might even say a little stingy—he gave
freely of his time and his love, especially to his grandchildren. They were the light of his
life, and he never missed a chance to play, tease, or laugh with them. To his family, he
was a constant: funny, present, and always a little stubborn in the way that only
someone truly loved can be.
He had a deep passion for gardening, especially growing tomatoes and peppers,
and he was the proud creator of a legendary habanero salsa that will be deeply
missed at every family gathering. His salsa was as spicy and unforgettable as he was.
Ricardo also loved visiting his beloved Rancho Las Mesas, where he found joy in the
simplest pleasures—especially eating mangos straight from the bucket. A record he
proudly bragged about was over 20 in one sitting with room left for more. He’d light up
when he talked about his land, his trees, and the memories planted there like seeds.
His greatest adventure, though, was love. Ricardo met his wife, Margarita, during the
holiday parties in the rancho. She fell for him at first sight; they became friends and
would write letters to each other when he returned to work in the United States. On one
of his trips back to Sinaloa at those famous holiday parties, she had a little too much to
drink (before Jesus days) and professed her love to him making the first move. That
bold moment landed her a husband of 42 years. Through life’s many ups and downs,
their love remained constant. Margarita loved him deeply and cared for him tenderly
until his very last breath.
He is survived by his children: Lesly, José Ricardo Jr., Anaiz, and Reina Rubí, and
by many grandchildren (and one great grandson) who will forever carry his stories and
his laughter in their hearts.

He also leaves behind a large and cherished group of siblings:
Ricardo, Marta, Norma, Irma, Jorge, Lorenzo, Chita, Angelina, Benita, Catalina,
Josefina, Angelina, Rosa, Lupe, Rafaela, and Beatriz.
He is preceded in death by his parents, José Acosta and María de la Luz
Madrigales, his brother Ismael, and his sister Mirza.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is now dancing with
Jesus in his new body, enjoying God’s presence—and maybe even showing off his
mango-eating skills in heaven. We hold tight to the memories, the love, and yes—the
salsa—that he leaves behind. May his life continue to inspire laughter, strength, and
togetherness in all of us.

durante las tradicionales posadas en el rancho. Ella se enamoró de él a primera vista;
Ricardo, Marta, Norma, Irma, Jorge, Lorenzo, Chita, Angelina, Benita, Catalina,
