Nancy's family then returned to Moses Lake where she attended school, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1971.

Nancy was fiercely independent and raised her 3 sons largely on her own. Nancy was a talented gardener, enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent cook. She was able to travel to Germany and visit her mother's homeland and also Brazil. Her final years were spent at her country home with her faithful standard poodle, lucy, as her companion. Nancy enjoyed working with people and had volunteered at many agencies.
