Omar Eduardo Benavidez
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Omar E. Benavidez,
52, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Warden, WA.
Omar was born Feb. 6, 1973, to Rodolfo and Juanita (Garza) Benavidez in Moses Lake, WA. He was raised and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1991. He would always say he was a “91’ Bad Boy”. In 1992 Omar enlisted in The United States Marine Corps (USMC). He served in the USMC from January 1993 through January 1997. During that time Omar and his former wife welcomed their daughter Erika Lynn Benavidez into the world.
Omar always greeted his family and friends with a warm, infectious smile. That smile would light up a room. He had enormous charm and a great sense of humor. Omar will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A note from Erika for her Dad.
“Zaiden and Alonzo will grow up hearing about their grandfather who once thought he was getting a son but got a daughter instead. From the very beginning I was wrapped in silver and black LA Raiders everything. He was ready for a little boy, but he got me. Our bond came with time, space and distance. We had talked and visited from time to time, and he got to meet his two grandsons hoping there would be more time with him but then life took him away too soon. I’m learning more every day in memories shared, quiet moments of reflection and in the small parts of him I now see myself and in my sons. I wish we had more time. I’m grateful for what we shared. Life doesn’t always give us the time we hope for. He will be missed deeply and remembered always. I hope he left knowing he was thought of, cared about and forgiven”
