Raquel Garza Obituary

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman — Raquel Garza. Born on February 14, 1974, in Othello, Washington, to Leonor and Leonardo Garza. She is preceded in death by her Parents Leonardo and Leonor Garza, her grandparents, an older sister Gloria Isabela Campos, sister in-law Melane Garza, a niece and nephew. She is survived by sister Gloria (spouse Ramiro) Cantu and their children and grandchildren, sister Leonor Garza, sister Rebecca (spouse Antonio) Barajas and their children and grandchildren, brother Leonardo Jr (spouse Melane ) Garza, brother Evetier Garza, sister Estella Garza, brother Luis (spouse Maria) Garza and children, and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Raquel came into this world on a day known for love — and that feels perfectly fitting. From the beginning, her life radiated warmth, compassion, and joy. Raquel was the fourth of nine siblings, part of a large, close-knit family whose bond was strengthened by faith, hard work, and love. She shared an especially unique connection with her twin sister, Rebecca Barajas — two hearts, two lives, intertwined by God’s design. Growing up in a family of immigrants, Raquel learned the value of dedication early on. She worked hard in the fields, helped clean, and cared for her younger siblings — always putting others before herself. That sense of service became a lifelong calling. Raquel’s first job was in a restaurant, but it wasn’t long before she discovered her true passion: caring for others through healthcare. She found her calling as a Medical Assistant, where she spent over 30 years in the medical field. Her kindness, patience, and genuine care touched countless lives — not only those of her patients, but also her coworkers and friends. Yet Raquel’s heart was not just for her work — it was for God and for people. From a young age, she was involved in ministry, and that spark of faith grew into a powerful light. She had a deep passion for serving others, especially the youth. Through her ministry, Raquel guided, encouraged, and inspired so many to walk in faith and to discover their purpose. Her love for God led her to take her calling even further - she studied to become a pastor, dedicating herself to learning and growing in His word so she could serve and lead others more deeply in their faith. Raquel’s life was a beautiful balance of joy and devotion. She was known for her happiness, being spontaneous, her laughter, and her friendly spirit. She made friends wherever she went — whether in church, at work, or in the community — because people were drawn to her energy, her kindness, and her authenticity. Because of her unwavering faith, her hard work, and her love for others, Raquel leaves behind not only her family, but also an entire community of friends, coworkers, and fellow believers who will forever cherish her memory. Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind — one of love, service, faith, and joy. Raquel’s life was a reflection of her favorite verse — Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Today, we remember Raquel as a woman of God, a loving sister, a loyal friend, a devoted servant, and a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. May her laughter echo in our memories, and may her example inspire us to live with the same love and purpose she carried every day of her life.
