Samuel Lamb Jr. Obituary

In Loving Memory of Samuel Edward Lamb Jr.

Samuel Edward Lamb Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on July 8th, 2024, at the age of 72, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Born on September 14th, 1951, Booneville, MO, to Mary Cecilia Lamb (Barr) and Dr. Samuel Edward Lamb Sr., both of whom predeceded him. Samuel was later adopted by Dorothy and Frank Pavlik, who raised him with love and care; they also preceded him in death. He is also predeceased by his brother Greg and leaves behind his siblings Matthew, Michael, Bette, Kim, and Jeff all of whom loved him dearly. Samuel had a lifelong passion for antiques, with a particular fondness for ham radios, old cameras, and antique drafting tools. He loved exploring the past through these items, often reminiscing about the eras they came from. His interest in old cars was a cherished hobby, and he dreamed of one day restoring a classic vehicle. Education was important to Samuel, who attended Siskiyou College for drafting. Though he didn’t complete a degree, his dedication to his craft was evident. He took great pride in his work as an associate planner for three different counties, always striving for perfection in his drafts. A man of many talents, Samuel enjoyed tinkering with computers, replacing parts, and ensuring they ran smoothly. He was a lover of books, often immersing himself in audiobooks and collecting Gerber knives as a pastime. Above all, Samuel was known for his love of dogs. He cherished the moments spent playing and cuddling with his furry companions, finding joy and comfort in their presence. He also had a strong affinity for gymnastics during his high school years and often enjoyed demonstrating his skills. Samuel is survived by his wife of 40 years Judy Lamb; children: Samuel Lamb III, Dawn Dobson, and Lorn Harris. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Samuel Lamb IV, Greyson Lamb, Theodore Herron, and Vavien Lamb, all children of Samuel Lamb III and Ruth Mina; Mercedes (Daniel) Sandberg, Michaela (Kyle) Hendershott, Catelynn Dobson, and Charli (Shannon) Bussey, all children of Dawn and Jerry Dobson; and Starr Harris and Tamara Fairly daughters of Lorn Harris. Great grandchildren: Charles Joe (CJ) and Rosemary Hendershott as well as Kai Bussey. His greatest joy in life was watching his children grow and achieve success, and spending time with his grandchildren and his wife, Judy. Samuel's kind nature and willingness to always give time and effort to those in need touched the lives of many. He was a man of extraordinary generosity and compassion, always ready to lend a hand or share a comforting word. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his curiosity, dedication, and loving nature. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew him and in the cherished hobbies and interests he passed down. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grant County Humane Society in honor of Samuel's love for animals.
