Sheila Rockwell Beam

Sheila Beam, nee Rockwell, was born November 26, 1944 in Bremerton, Washington. On June 13, 2021, she was surrounded by angels and taken into heaven from Wichita Falls, Texas where she had recently relocated.  

Sheila was a devoted mother and grandmother, and loved gardening, sewing and reading. She and her husband Jim were fortunate to have lived in many places as he served in the USAF.  They lived in …Moses Lake, Washington…. Okinawa, Japan..White Sands, New Mexico..Hickam AFB, Hawaii…Austin, Texas and Wichita Falls, Texas.  Sheila also enjoyed her retirement years in Carlyle, Illinois where she volunteered at the public library as well as serving her neighbors faithfully.  Previous to her return to Wichita Falls, she was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served in the food pantry and otherwise loved lending a helping hand to those in need.  She had a heart for the poor and the suffering, for all creatures great and small, and delighted in not wasting the blessings she had been given.  She was feisty and faithful and taught her children to love God and mind their manners!

She was preceded in death by her parents  Arthur and Elizabeth, nee Sutton,  Rockwell, her husband Elwood Ray “Jim” Beam whom she married on March 9, 1963 in Coeur D’alene, Idaho and who passed away on November 5th, 1988, her brother Lawrence Rockwell, sister-in-law Pat Rockwell and son-in-law Timothy Sellers.

Mourning her passing are her children Joe (Julie) Beam of Wichita Falls, Texas, Christine Sellers (Billy White) of Roanoke , Texas, Bridget (Roger) Kehrer of Mascoutah, Illinois,   grandchildren Jake Beam of Stillwater, OK, Jenna Beam of Edmond, OK, Jolie Beam and Josh Beam of Wichita Falls, Tx, Cody (Renee) Miser of Hudson Oaks, Tx, Luke (Allexus) of Fort Worth, Tx and Magdalene (William) Shackelford of Alexandria, Va, great-grandchildren Kinsley Miser, Hadley Miser,  John Shackelford and Elizabeth Shackelford, brothers Michael Rockwell of Wenatchee, Wa, John Rockwell of Spokane, Wa, sister Colleen (Fred) Benedetti of Bothell, Wa, sister Susie (Neil) Schiller of Point Pleasant, NJ, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. 

Memorials can be made to Samaritan’s Purse , an organization dear to Sheila.  

Funeral:  Per Sheila’s wishes, her body was cremated and will be interred near her great grandmother Celia Sutton at the Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake, Washington where Sheila grew up.  A funeral mass will be performed at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with the interment to follow.
